2016. Time for that “New Year, New Me!” talk everyone becomes fixated on! But in all honesty, yet another year has flown by just as quick as it came. Something to get used to writing on all our papers that’s for sure. Atleast until we get into that habitual routine of ours. As soon as a new year befalls us, everyone, including I, start thinking about all the possible things we want to accomplish in the coming year.
Goals. You should constantly be setting goals for yourself, whether they be short term or long term. Life revolves around the individual who constantly grows. At least that’s what I think anyways. They’re great to have all year, not just something to think about when the new year arrives. Why wait for the new year to start something that you love? To reach out to that individual you have long forgotten, to improve your physical health, to achiever greater things? Why wait? Do it NOW. The time is NOW.
I have previously mentioned that I am a procrastinator. This in itself is a very dangerous and self destructing habit. What accompanies procrastination is the idea that you have a great vision for yourself BUT you put it all off for another time, another day, another year. There have been countless times where a thought or an idea would arise from amidst all the things in my head. That inspiration you get at the time is a very powerful tool. You can achieve great things. But that inspiration diminishes day by day, the longer you put it off. Don’t be that person. Don’t be me.
As with everyone else, I too have a list of goals that I would like to achieve, InshaAllah. There are many general goals I have in mind – like eating healthier – along with specific personal goals, such as completing school. They all have one thing in common: Committment. Now, we are all merely human beings who commit mistakes and go through obstacles in order to achieve the things we set out to do. There will be days where that drive and passion is at an all time low, but that doesn’t mean you have failed, nor should you quit. It just means you take a step back, acknowledge the hardship, then proceed to start again the next day. I promise you can achieve anything your heart desires with hard work and faith. InshaAllah.
Let today, now, be the start of a journey for the greater good. Let today be the day you take care of yourself. Let today be the day you improve your inner self. Let today be the day you tell someone you love them. Let today be the day you take charge of your future. Let today be the day you become your OWN BOSS. At the end of the day, you do you boo. To the best of your ability of course! We are all merely trying to survive this thing called life.
Lifelong goal: To be a better version of myself than the day before. To constantly improve oneself for the greater good.
Good luck to you all. May you have a successful, healthy, and prosperous year full of many blessings. Aameen.
